Experience Flight of Butterflies at all Library locations from June 16 to August 30. This stunning exhibition, developed by the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, brings together art, nature, and conservation. This traveling exhibit features a collection of large-scale, butterfly sculptures—each designed by Chicago artists and community groups.
Blending creativity with environmental awareness, the exhibit invites visitors to reflect on themes of transformation, migration, and the role we all play in protecting the natural world. Through these larger-than-life sculptures, Flight of Butterflies raises awareness about conservation and encourages communities to take action to support butterflies and other pollinators.
As part of the experience, participants are invited to contribute to a collaborative art display. Create your own paper butterfly and share one small action you can take to bring hope to nature, yourself, or others. Add your butterfly to a growing installation, forming a colorful “swarm” that represents our collective commitment to protecting the environment.
Perfect for all ages, this exhibit celebrates the power of art, community, and small actions to create meaningful change.
