Rory Rubin and Richard Koenig discuss affordable housing, the challenges of making it affordable, and potential solutions.
About the speakers:
Richard Koenig, PhD, has led the Housing Opportunity Development Corporation since 1997, guiding the development of more than 35 affordable housing communities and ensuring stable, affordable homes for over 700 low-income families. He holds a PhD in Community Economic Development and a Master of Urban Planning, is a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners (FAICP), and serves on the board of the Collaborative Community Housing Initiative.
Rory Rubin is the Founder and CEO of S.I. Container Builds, Inc., a position held since December 2018. Prior to this role, Rory served as a Management Consultant at Chamberlain from 2012 to 2017 and as a Career Management Consultant at Right Management from 2004 to 2012, focusing on career management, coaching, and leadership development. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ithaca College.
The Civic Awareness Series is brought in partnership with the League of Women Voters of the Palatine, Barrington, and Schaumburg Areas. The League of Women Voters in a non-partisan organization dedicated to civic education, engagement, and encouraging voting.
