As You Like It
Presented by Goodly Creatures Theatre
Sunday, August 02
2:00pm - 4:00pm
As You Like It is a romantic comedy about Lady Rosalind, who is banished from court by her treacherous uncle, and flees to the Forest of Arden disguised as a young man, Ganymede. Accompanied by her cousin Celia and their court jester Touchstone, the three build a new life in the forest among the country farmers and nomads. In the forest, she encounters Orlando, the man who fell in love with her at court, but who does not recognize her in disguise. While he declares his undying love for Rosalind, she cleverly tests his devotion through playful conversations about love and identity while in disguise. Throughout the forest, other characters pursue romance, and comic misunderstandings ensue. As You Like It celebrates love, forgiveness, and the contrast between the power-hungry culture of the royal court and the community and natural way of life in the country.
Located at Meineke Park, 220 East Weathersfield Way, Schaumburg. Please bring your own chair or blanket to sit on.
