Join us for an open conversation about race and racism, and how they affect almost every aspect of our every day lives in America. Our conversation will be guided by topics found in the selected book, So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo. This discussion will be moderated by Eric Coval. Eric is an English teacher, instructional coach, SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) facilitator, SOAR (Students Organized Against Racism) sponsor, and poetry slam coach at Maine East High School. He has taught in the Maine district for the past 18 years and worked at Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago for 3 years prior. Eric has attended SEED New Leaders Week in California to become a facilitator for the program and he has also attended Beyond Diversity. Eric has been nominated by students for the Golden Apple Award, the Disney Award for teachers, and the Suave Award for teachers throughout his career.
