We bring together a librarian, an Illinois Bar Association attorney, and a representative from the League of Women Voters of Illinois to share trusted resources for researching candidates, understanding judicial elections, and navigating nonpartisan tools available to all. This moderated conversation empowers voters with practical strategies for making informed decisions at the ballot box.
The Honorable Jesse G. Reyes is currently a Justice on the Illinois Appellate Court, First District. In addition, he serves as Co-Chair of the Court’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and previously served as the Chair of the Executive Committee and as Presiding Justice of the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Divisions. Justice Reyes is also the most senior elected Latino judge in the State of Illinois. He has been a member of the judiciary since December 1997, having previously served as both an associate judge and an elected judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Justice Reyes received his B.A. from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
Ashley Johnson is a librarian at Vernon Area Public Library who is passionate about helping people access reliable information and develop the skills needed to navigate today’s information landscape. She will share how public libraries support informed civic engagement through trusted resources, research tools, and information literacy education.
Roberta Borrino serves as Vice President of Voter Service for the League of Women Voters of Illinois and has worked on the administration of the League's online voter guides for the past 12 years. She successfully managed the statewide implementation of VOTE411 for the 2026 Illinois Primary Election, helping provide voters across Illinois with accessible, nonpartisan election information.
