In 1924 Beulah Annan was arrested, jailed, and acquitted for killing her lover, Harry Kalsted. Six weeks later, a jury acquitted her of murder. Inspired by the sordid event, Maurine Watkins, a reporter at the time, wrote the play Chicago, a Broadway hit that was subsequently adapted several times.
Join author Charles Cosgrove as he digs more deeply into the details of the crime and the validity of the play itself.
