To celebrate Filipino American History Month, drop by any of our library locations to design your own saranggola, also known as a kite. There are a few words in Tagalog that mean kite, including taguri and burador. In the city of Sipalay they host the Burangoy Kite Festival, one of the largest in Negros Occidental and Western Visaya, where the word burador is commonly used for kite. In Filipino culture a saranggola represents joy, creativity, and a connection to nature. This drop-in craft is available on Tuesday, October 14.
