Learn how music is processed through the brain and the effect it has on memory, cognition, decreasing pain and improving fine and gross motor skills. This course will help you understand the physiological benefits of music, neuroplasticity and the difference in the way neurons are firing in the brain when involved in music.
More about our presenter: Mary Helen Ekstam is an account executive for Trinity Health at Home, Loyola's home care and hospice programs. She is a board certified music therapist as well as a certified dementia practitioner and has been working in the health care industry as a therapist and in leadership positions for the past forty years with expertise in neurological rehabilitation, hospice and palliative care, and music therapy.
