Norwegian immigrants began trickling into Illinois and Wisconsin during the 1830s and 1840s. They brought many traditions with them, including excellent Lutheran Church congregational record-keeping. Dana Kelly explores Norwegian-American church records and how they help point us to records in Norway. She also touches on Norwegian naming traditions, and their importance to genealogy. This program is recorded for 3 weeks.
