To celebrate Women’s History Month, we will create a mixed media collage inspired by Lorna Simpson’s artwork. This project will encourage exploration and help kids understand how layering can add depth to their art.
Lorna Simpson is a contemporary African American artist known for her use of imagery to explore identity, historical themes, and the representation of women of color. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1960, she has continued to create impactful art using photography, film, painting, drawing, and much more. Her work is featured in prominent art museums around the world, from Chicago to Munich, Germany.
