Sponsored by the Chicago Tribune, the 1945 Chicagoland Prize Homes competition solicited designs by mostly unknown architects. The goal was to provide beautiful yet practical houses for returning WWII veterans and middle-class residents of the city and suburbs. Author Siobhan Moroney discusses the competition, the designs, floor plans and the long-term effects of the competition.
This is part of our Chicagoland: Read All About It series.
