A Burns Night is a celebration of the life and work of Scottish poet Robert Burns. Traditionally, there is a full supper, whiskey toasts, and a presentation of haggis on his birthday, January 25. While we won't be having a formal supper we do move through the ceremony of the evening and read some Burns poetry. After a non-alcoholic welcome toast, engage in a simulated presentation of haggis with its formal address. The evening is rounded out with an address to the lassies, a reply to the laddies, and a few readings from some pre-selected Burns poems. Though not required, patrons are highly encouraged to dress in their Scottish best and participate in reading the addresses and the poems provided that evening.
