Sam Molzahn, Adult Reference and Technology Librarian at the Franklin Public Library in Wisconsin, will discuss the differences between misinformation and disinformation, how fake news affects everyone, how to evaluate news and what you can do to combat fake news.
Meet the Speaker: Sam Molzahn is the adult reference and technology librarian at the Franklin Public Library (WI) and earned his MLIS from UW-Milwaukee. He has taught classes on fake news and media literacy for five years and is passionate about creating informed citizens of all ages.
The Civic Awareness Series is a partnership program with the League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area. The League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area, serving the Barrington area, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, and Schaumburg, encourages informed and active participation in government, and works to influence public policy through education and advocacy. The LOWV is a non-partisan organization.
