Online Program: The U.S. Civil War Series

Historian Shelby Foote said that to truly understand the character of the United States, you first had to understand the Civil War. Professor Gary Midkiff, who has studied the Civil War for 50 years, agrees. As Gary leads us through this six-part series, he hopes to expand our knowledge of the Civil War and explain how that knowledge allows better understanding of many of the societal issues we face today.
- Part 1, Jan. 21: April 1861 through Nov. 1861
- Part 2, March 18: Dec. 1861 through July 1862
- Part 3, May 20: Aug. 1862 through March 1863
- Part 4, July 15: April 1863 through Nov. 1863
- Part 5, Sept. 23: Dec. 1863 through July 1864
- Part 6, Nov. 18: Aug. 1864 through April 1865
This program will take place online on Zoom. After registering, you will receive a link to the Zoom webinar at least one hour in advance of the program. By registering, you will also receive access to a recording of each program after it occurs live.
