Crafted Creations: Wampum Bracelet Weaving
Grades 4-6
Saturday, November 14
3:00pm - 4:00pm
Central Library
Craft RoomTo celebrate Native American Heritage Month, we will learn about the history of Wampum Weaving from various indigenous nations along the east coast. Originally made with white and purple shells in the form of belts, wampum weaving used specific colors and patterns to tell stories, record historic events, and sometimes acted as gifts.
We’ll design and create wampum-inspired beaded bracelets to tell our own stories.
