Hybrid: Welcome to Birding
Thursday, June 25
7:00pm - 8:00pm
Central Library
Rasmussen RoomSince 2004, readers of the Daily Herald newspaper have enjoyed "Words on Birds" by Jeff Reiter. His new book, from Chicago's Eckhartz Press, is a collection of favorite columns about birds, birding and birders. A central theme of the book is that birding is a fun, very accessible lifelong hobby. This presentation includes stories about backyard and "everyday" birds, as well as tales of rare-bird stakeouts and cross-country adventures. Audience members walk away with new insights about birds and birding, along with encouragement to enjoy the hobby on their own terms, at their own pace. One of the payoffs is a closer connection with nature, a proven mental health benefit. No wonder nearly 100 million Americans consider themselves casual or serious birders!
Jeff will sell copies of his book, Words on Birds, at the conclusion of his presentation.
