All ages can explore and create during this year's Summer Challenge Kickoff. This event includes a partnership with the Village of Schaumburg featuring the much-loved Environmental Fair, plus Summer Challenge registration, hands-on stations and interactive activities.
At 2 p.m., Sue Cubberly will speak about home-scale rain gardens. Sue operates Ecotone Services, Inc. a company dedicated to climate, biodiversity, and equity. Explore how small rain gardens at home can capture and control rainwater runoff while creating a haven for desirable plant life and pollinators. You’ll see examples of attractive and easy-to-create rain gardens and learn how to create desirable spaces out of problem areas while conserving water, solving rainwater runoff problems and beautifying your landscape. Bring photographs of your yard for a personal consultation.
Exhibitors representing local environmental organizations will be on hand with information and can answer your questions about their programs and projects.
By registering for this kick-off event, you are also registering for our Summer Challenge: Read, Renew, Repeat. On the day of the event, all you have to do is pick up your log and have fun!
