No one can predict when a medical emergency will occur. If you are in a coma, suffer brain damage or develop dementia as you age, you'll need someone else to speak or make health care decisions for you. If you plan now while you are healthy, you can increase the chances that the medical treatment you get will be the treatment you want.
Anyone 18 years old and over should have a Power of Attorney for Health Care and Living Will. Also known as a health care proxy or advance directive, the Five Wishes document allows you to control what kind of health care you receive during a medical emergency. You can express your emotional and spiritual wishes, a topic that can at times be difficult for families to discuss and Five Wishes eases that burden for you and your family.
This program is sponsored by Sewa International, a non-profit organization. During the virtual seminar, Mira Radadia, attorney-at-law, will guide you through the document step-by-step and answer questions.
