The community benefits when everyone reduces emissions from the vehicles they drive and the energy sources they use to heat and cool their homes. Join us and Schaumburg’s Environmental Committee at Spring Valley Nature Center to learn how to reduce your energy use and energy costs, and how you can make the shift to an electric vehicle future.
Sessions include:
- Charge Ahead with an Electric Vehicle (1–2 p.m.) Choosing an electric vehicle that’s right for you can be a difficult decision. Learn about electric vehicles, how they differ from gas-powered vehicles, and how their batteries are recycled. Schaumburg staff will be on-hand to provide information about the permit process for installing charging infrastructure in your home, and incentives and tax credits to offset costs.
- Take Control of Your Energy Costs (2–3 p.m.) Hot temperatures and air conditioning will soon be here. Join representatives from ComEd and Nicor to learn about their residential and income-eligible energy savings programs. From free home assessments and programmable thermostats to rebates and tax incentives, you’ll come away with ideas you can put into action to reduce your energy use and costs.
- CUB (Citizens Utility Board) Utility Clinic (12:30–3:30 p.m.) Learn how to save money on your utility bills in this free bill review clinic. Representatives from CUB (Citizens Utility Board) will be available to analyze your gas, electric, cable tv, and phone bills to show you how to spot unnecessary charges and save money using rebates and energy efficiency programs. Please bring current copies of your gas, electric, phone, and cable tv bills.
Exhibitors representing local environmental organizations will be on hand with information and can answer your questions about their programs and projects. Spring Valley is a living museum that puts conservation into action!
