Experience the Art Institute’s special exhibition of works by portraitist John Singer Sargent. Sargent’s society portraits, including “Madame X,” gave him the financial freedom to paint diverse subjects and to travel extensively in Italy, England, France and Spain. En route to the museum, art historian Jeff Mishur provides exhibit commentary, using Sargent’s career as portraitist, muralist and plein air painter as contextual background. At the museum, Mishur will lead a tour of the exhibit and other thematically-linked pieces in the permanent collection. Enjoy free time to explore the permanent collection and museum shops. A lunch voucher for the museum café is also included.
Fee: $88. Registration opens June 1. Please visit or call the Adult Information Desk at (847) 923-3347 to register.
