Come early to review genealogical materials. At 7:45 p.m. guest presenter Thomas MacEntee will discuss the best ways to connect with other family historians and share resources including research, documents and research strategies, all via live webinar.
What happens when a “tech guy” with a love for history gets laid off during The Great Recession of 2008? You get, Thomas MacEntee. He was laid off after a 25-year career in the information technology field, so he started building his own genealogy-related business called High Definition Genealogy. He also created an online community of over 3,000 family history bloggers known as GeneaBloggers. His most recent endeavor, Hack Genealogy, is an attempt to “re-purpose today’s technology for tomorrow’s genealogy.”
The doors to the room will open at approximately 7 PM so participants can pick up any handouts, review books and journals and interact with other participants. Tony Kierna, the STDL genealogist, will start the program at 7:30. Introductions of new participants will occur as well as a brief review of handouts and genealogical matters. It is expected that the guest speaker's presentation will start at around 7:45-8:00 PM. We will end the session by 9:30 PM.
For further information contact Tony Kierna at 847-923-3390.
